I've been a bit MIA lately, and I'm always late to memes, but whatever

If you read this, even if we don't speak often, please leave a comment to this post with a memory you have of you and me. It can be anything you want - good or bad. Once you've left a comment, post this little paragraph on your journal and be surprised (or mortified) about what people remember about you. Any 'verse, point in canon or random encounter between you and me is welcome.

I've been meaning to complete a proper CR meme for ages and haven't gotten around to finishing it at all, so maybe doing this might help me get that posted and give it an update from my earlier draft. And if not, at least it's a fun exercise and stuff.

He used to know the future. Well, know it more or less. At times the future decided it wanted to be in flux and things could get quite confusing. Nevertheless, he was fairly decent at his history, he knew the past and the future. The details might change here or there, but Hitler always lost the war, unless of course you changed something in the past that shouldn’t be changed. That always means the Germans ends up winning. Or perhaps not, maybe that is just something he read online. Either way, his knowledge of the future at this point isn’t even as useful as an internet anecdote that may or may not exist.

2012. He knows the year. There once was a Dalek in a museum underground, but time had gone into flux and the thing probably ended up there more or less, despite the flux. He wasn’t sure. There should be Olympics happening in London, except the Olympic games no longer exist in this universe. These are things he more or less has come to terms with. A future that isn’t that he knows it should be, but he was prepared for that.

Other things though, other things still catch him off guard.

I had a dream which was not all a dream.

He wasn't sure what that meant, but as he woke from a dream the phrase rolled around in his mind. He vaguely thought that someone that wasn't him thought that thought, or spoke those words. He couldn't quite remember who that would be, maybe a book or a film or a friend. It really didn't matter though, did it? Just a phrase that someone said once, he didn't need to know anything more than that.

A dream stuck out though, more than anything he really could remember. It was just a dream though, and nothing really worth dwelling on either. Dreams come and dissipate because that's the way they work. It was something he knew, though he couldn't tell you why he knew it. He also knew that he should get up and find the kitchen, and he thought he liked coffee, black with extra sugar. He couldn't say if he liked that since forever, but it felt like he did.

There was another feeling as well, a feeling outside of his mind and his body and surrounding him in a way that felt familiar, but couldn't possibly be right. It felt like the walls around him were somehow sad, in a quiet way he couldn't quite figure out. A strange thing though, sadness in the walls. It was strange enough that it could be pushed aside to the corner of his mind where useless notions were sent.

And men forgot their passions in the dread of this their desolation.

He wondered briefly where strange thoughts and words like that might come from, but just as quickly he questioned this, he banished the thoughts and words and strange dreams and despairing walls to the place in his mind where useless things belong. There were more important things to focus on, things like coffee and finding kitchens. So that is what he did, moving himself along and through the motions which felt comfortingly familiar.

He was terrible at waiting.

Just a general note, I'll be away from tomorrow until sometime Sunday afternoon/night/whatever, so if anyone is looking for me or stuff, I am not here. But in the meantime, I'll post this and maybe I will have music and things waiting when I come back.

He glared at the Master, taking a step away.

“You’re hiding something from me.”

He would drop, he would drop any second now. That’s what he would do, he could walk away, run away. Just drop and that would -

Before he could make an exit the Master had a grip on his wrist.

“Let go!”

“Tell me.”

He yanked, trying to pull away, knowing full well that the Master was stronger and would win the battle. He gave the Master a look and then relaxed.

“Fine, I’ll just wait until you get bored.”

“I have all the time in the universe," he said, his tone light. And then just as quickly his tone turned colder and more sinister. "Unlike some people.”

The human Doctor gave him a glare, and then focused his attention on a couple buttons on his shirt, idly playing with them in boredom as he waited for the Master to let go. He wasn’t sure how long they were standing there before he heard a delicate cough.

He looked up startled to see Reinette standing there, one eyebrow arched perfectly. He felt himself straighten up a bit, and could feel his cheeks get a little warmer as Reinette’s gaze fell to his apparent hand holding with the Master and then her gaze met theirs again.

He tried to block out the rest of that conversation.

“What, no, you get it”

The Doctor gave him a look.  There were signs of some sort of temporal anomaly, and after hours spent they realized it was just some sort of glitch.  He rolled his eyes.  He wasn’t sure when he became the Doctor’s personal gopher, but he didn’t particularly feel like arguing.

“Fine.  Next time something is left behind, you’re getting it though.”

Somehow his and Donna’s laundry schedules always seem to fall one on top of the other. As he puts in his laundry her clothes are finishing in the dryer. It is nothing planned or even thought about that often, it is just the way of things. Neither one of them plan it out that way, and they usually have a nice little chat while Donna is folding her laundry and he is placing his in the dryer. At first it was just instructions on how to do laundry properly without destroying any machinery. It took a few lessons from Donna to get that down. Then it was just idle chit chat, a weekly ritual of sorts.

( written because I love Kisha lots and lots and stuff and if handy were real he would hate me and kisha forever and ever and ever. lucky for everyone, handy is only fictional, and slightly fail at times, so his hatred as far as this goes is pretty meaningless )

You’re cocky, you’re always too cocky. Nine times out of ten your words are just threats and mean nothing more. You expect everyone else to be the same. You expect the bad guys to be clearly labeled and wear armour and metal and machinery that hides away any sort of softness or weakness or humanity. You always forget who the villain is, and you thought it was just an empty threat until she lunges at you.

OOC: written for shatteredqueen  as a companion to this and based on RP in realityshifted  in which a chance to become Time Lord again has been offered by the Master. (This is all AU to that canon at the moment, just following off of that point)

It’s a story told in reverse, and you think that might be the way all stories are told. All the stories you know are told backwards. All your history happened before you were born. Everything you are happened before you took your first breath. You are a story in reverse, so why shouldn’t everything be that way. We are the makers of our own worlds and our own realities, and it only makes sense that the universe should follow the order of your mind.

All stories are memories and all memories have come and gone, so it must be the truth, it must all be backwards. Or maybe it’s all the same moment happening over and over again. Like cartoons where the background loops on top of itself as the characters do whatever they find themselves doing at the moment. Everything now will happen again and has happened before and it’s all the same backwards and forwards and it all happens every second of every day of every lifetime.

The story is a palindrome, backwards and forwards it’s all the same.

I could make you a Time Lord

The right answer is no. You should say no. You need to say no.

You are living the lifespan of your body. You are living the life you are meant to be living. You are what you are and it is wrong to play god. You were not meant to become again. You are this and you will never be anything more or less.

You need to say no.

You need to say no, but you want to say yes. It feels like there are so many things that you want that you let slip by, because you should do something else or you need to do something else. You want to be reckless and selfish and stupid.

You don’t care how wrong the answer is, you say yes.
